Frantisek Halama Art Deco grey perfume bottle “Siesta”
c. 1935
Designed by Frantisek Halama II (1913-1976)
H21*14*7m
The Art Deco crystal perfume bottle designed by Frantisek Halama in the 1930s depicts a naked goddess resting with a cherub, and was named the "siesta" design model. Made of gray crystal with a satin finish that makes the surface soft and delicate to the touch, the large dimension of the perfume bottle can let it become the focal point of any display case and collection.
The Bohemian region is one of the origins of glass manufacturing, and the Czech Republic is the most important industrial country among them. Frantisek Halama was born in a glass family in 1912, and developed a strong interest in art glass from his parents. In 1932, Frantisek Halama established his own glass manufacturing workshop. His works immediately became successful around the world, exported to Italy, France and the United States. Winning a medal at the French World Expo in 1937, its superb craftsmanship has enabled the works of Halama Workshop to decorate the homes of kings and presidents around the world. It was not until 1948 that the company was nationalized by the red regime, the Halama family became the public enemy of the people, and artistic creation came to an end.
