Art Deco Crystal "Pelicane" Bijoux Box or Ashtray is one of the work of the series ‘Ingrid’ manufactured by Curt Schlevogt. It was unveiled at the Leipzig Spring Trade Fair in Germany and the Chicago World's Fair in 1934, and won a medal on behalf of Czechoslovakia at the Paris World's Fair in 1937.
The Bohemian region has a long history of glass manufacturing. The earliest production records can be traced back to the 12th century. During the era of Art Deco, Curt Schlevogt and Heinrich Hoffmann were inspired by the French crystal master Lalique to create equally exquisite glassware material, frosted crystal, and uses it as a media to unite many designers to create elegant art glass sculptures.
