Heinrich Hoffmann opened a glass jewelry store in Paris in the early 20th century. After studying glassmaking in Gabronz, and under the artistic direction of René Lalique, he expanded his product range to include decorative art glass, the most classic of which are made from the same molds as Lalique.
Curt Schlevogt was a German-Jewish Czechoslovak artist who founded a jewelry and glass button manufacturing company in Gablonz. Both artists established their careers in North Bohemia, and their collaboration began through a family marriage.
Schlevogt strived to subvert the original form of art glass and invented the famous Jade series malachite glass. These art glasses were eventually launched under the brand name "Ingrid", derived from her daughter's name, and were an immediate success in Europe and the United States, launched at the Leipzig Spring Trade Fair in 1934, presented at the Chicago World's Fair the same year, and at the Paris World's Fair in 1937 Won a medal representing Czechoslovakia.
After 1938, Nazi Germany occupied the Sudetenland and production activities were interrupted. The company's art glass from the 1920s and 1930s became increasingly popular among collectors.
