A complete serving wine set from the 1920s, including a decanter and six wine glasses. Johannes Oertel, a Czech artist from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, arranges and combines geometric shapes to form eye-catching facets. The huge and thick bottle cap shines like a diamond under the sunlight, which is the perfect modern interpretation of Art Deco.
The artist's works were exhibited at the World's Fairs in Liège, Ghent and Rio de Janeiro in 1905, 1913 and 1922, and one of his design sketches was also collected by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The wine body embodies the Bohemian crystal cutter shape and is decorated with the black metallic paint Schwarzlotmalerei pattern. This pattern was created in the Middle Ages and was popular in the Germanic region. It was mostly used in church windows or on the surfaces of utensils. The details are embossed with gold.
