c.1800-1850
Handmade in Bohemia

The amber-stained crystal bells made in Bohemia in the early 19th century were acid-etched with traditional patterns. Uranium elements were added to the glass. They fluoresce when exposed to ultraviolet light in dark places and the bell can still be used.
Bohemia is a traditional glass-making area. After the 16th century, it began to produce glassware for European nobles. This piece of glassware is a typical 19th-century Bohemian style.
